This month's JUG (Java User Group) meeting featured Marc Fleury. This guy can really be convincing and suddenly all my concerns about Java bytecode manipulation are gone and I now look at it as the natural extension of refection.
Marc also argued that the BSD license, upon which the Swixml license is based, leads to instability in the code because changes can be made but don't have to be shared. Therefore, I'm currently considering releasing the upcoming Swixml 1.1 release under the LGPL license.
BTW, Jason released JDOM Beta 10 and it looks like that JDOM 1.o final release is just around the corner.
Read his blog and learn what a long ride it has been; almost 4 years have past since the start of his project.
