Famo.us, the HTML5/JavaScript framework that could potentially rival Adobe's PhoneGap mobile app development platform, is set to move to a widespread public beta availability stage on April 14.

Available only in a limited, private beta program so far, Famo.us is an open source technology for building high-performing JavaScript Web and mobile applications without requiring native code or plug-ins. During a presentation at the DeveloperWeek conference in San Francisco on Wednesday, David Fetterman, vice president of engineering at Famo.us, the company behind the technology, mentioned that the public beta release happens in 54 days.
