A friend here in Chicago volunteered to take calls during the pledge drive for the local NPR affiliate. This friend also happens to be from India and (surprise) has an Indian accent.I suppose the accent is what provoked one of the callers to inquire as to whether he was at a call center in India. The caller wasn't willing to just take his word for the fact that he was at Navy Pier, either. "What do you see when you leave work?..." Never mind that the people taking calls are volunteers, so it doesn't make sense to outsource free labor to another country...Convinced or not, the caller did eventually pledge.
