If you write a spec that no one implements, did it ever really specify anything?I agree with Don's statement (taken out of context) in that it is time to emphasize implementation and evaluation of the various specifications. What works? What's useful? What's missing? There are lessons readily available from other efforts, e.g., EJB, on the difference between what gets designed, what gets built, and what is actually meaningful in practice.It may not have the same ring or cachet as service-oriented architecture, but it is time for service-oriented carpentry.
