I have been following the recent trend by TheServerSide.com and TheServerSide.NET using blog postings as highlighted articles and news items on their main pages.
I am going to name this phenomenon as the "Blog as Article" trend, since someone's blog entry becomes an article/news item at a well known community website.
I know TSS.com has its opt-in program, but I noticed today that TSS.NET is now mo 400 re frequently using direct links to blog posts as the actualy content of the news item.
To me it seems that this trend is going to become a more popular way of site soliciting good content, without the hastle of having to go through the heavy editorial process, and possibly not having to pay someone for their written work.
I am not going to claim that I know the ins and outs of article writing, but this would seem like a good symbiotic relationship, in that the blog poster gets readership and name recognition, and the community site gets to choose from a creame-of-the-crop blog base for its content.
My question is this: Are these community sites going to become glorified blog aggregators?
