Maybe it's time to really choose the side to be on. Being a Java programmer or releasing a Java based product, so far only meant you were not limited to work or run solely on the Microsoft platform and your products would have the potential to be deployed on Linux/Unix/MacOS and Windows.
Microsoft has accepted the challenge and responded in unexpected but creative and forceful ways, i.e. sponsoring SCO's the legal fight against IBM and basically buying Sun's trustworthiness. Maybe money can't buy you love but in Microsoft's case, it buys them anything else.
The real fight that's going on is between MS and IBM, everything else is just beside theater of war. Eventually one has to decide and chose the lesser of two evils.
