I guess you have all seen Hani's rants about JBoss. Can't say much about the technical facts, since I haven't used JBoss. I've seen some of Marc's writings, and accept them. I don't have the ego to write like him, but I'll buy any attitute, as long as it is genuine. Which is why I really like Hani's style too. Damn, he knows how to pinch the fat where it hurts most.

In one thing he is definitely right, and that is the fundamental weakness in JBoss business model: Selling documentation and consulting. The problem is, as some of you probably have seen long time ago, that they conflict. The better docs they write and sell, the less consulting will be necessary. And the other way around.

I therefore think this is not a good business model. Should not be at the top of Carlos' list of how to make money out of open source software.
