If you have the same (weird) interest in retail and supply-chain stuff that I do, you'll probably like these two articles from this month's Baseline:

I don't know why I like this stuff: it sounds boring now that I've written up those little summaries.

While I was looking up a good book in this area (In Sam We Trust, by a Wall Street Journal reporter who covered Wal-Mart for sometime), I saw this book, On Target: How the World's Hottest Retailer Hit a Bullseye. I always wonder how Target got to be so damned hip.

Kim's told me that when she was younger, no one would admit to shopping for anything at Target, except for socks.

My mother and I went there all the time to buy this and that. I remember it being much more fuddy-duddy than it is now: but they did always have those nifty watch calculators and other cheap watches. I probably spent too much money on their toys and slush puppies too.

Anyhow, maybe I'll get around to reading that Target book one day.
