Well, once again I find myself on the sidelines for JavaOne. I'd
really like to go, and I wouldn't mind being able to go to WWDC in a couple
weeks either. I just don't have much luck with conferences. Well, maybe next
year.
In the meantime, the one bright spot is that it looks like the
price for online access to the technical talks has gone down. It
looks like access to
JavaOne online is only $100. Last year it was $500. Fortunately
I was able to convince my employer at the time to pay for that to make
up for not being able to go to the sessions in person. I made a habit
of watching at least one session a day for a couple months, until I
got through the bulk of the sessions that were even remotely
interesting. I'm sure, at a mere $100, my current employer will be
willing to pay for it. It's quite a value.
