Bryan Bell wants to start a Designers Against Stagnate Internet Explorer club after the recent announcements by Microsoft that Mac IE is dead and Windows IE is in a coma until Longhorn (where it will apparently appear much more tightly integrated into the OS, rather than as a stand-alone application). Bryan says that "IE has now taken Netscape 4's old position as the boat anchor being dragged behind the internet", and I agree with him. Longhorn is a long wait for a browser upgrade. After all they did to win the browser war, it seems unfair to drop the ball like this. All I want is a render engine update and tabbed pages. Is that too much to ask!
BTW I currently have IE set as my default browser for the simple reason that it is the leanest solution on Windows, and with the shitbox machine that I use at the moment I can't afford to spare any CPU cycles. Apart from XUI, which I'm still not sold on, Mozilla is infinitely more usable.
