As you may have notice Microsoft has received approval from the FCC to build their own SmartPhone. While the strategy of using 2nd Tier manufacturers who wil not mind theri product being rebranded is wise to break into this market the other 2 wrongs will hamstring the MS effort.

The two wrongs have do with the lack of high tech 3G networks in major markets that MS has to enter and lack of J2ME being included. While alone these two wrongs might be handled by decreasing the price to consumers through discounts; the two wrongs together make it almost a bad movie prospect in the CE realm due to wide variety of J2ME games and application offerings.

To contrast this with 75% of non MS providers of MS powered smart phones have already included j2me functionality to deal with this issue.
