J2ME applications development seems to be quite easy as far as the app. has to run on a single device or emulator. The real challenge with J2ME applications development is porting. Porting the application on different devices produces different results. Reason? The capability of target device in terms of memory/network/processor etc.
Also, you need many parameters in the emulator to be available that may not be reqired while porting.

To get the most of the emulator the document at the title of this posts lists out the configurable features along with the default values and a short description of the variable.
