Researchers from the Unversity of California at Berkeley have made very interesting advances in what could be the creation of a visual interface to the brain.
In a recent series of experiments, they recorded the output of brain cells in a cat's brain that responded to light and dark in the animal's field of view, then decoded and converted this output into an image of what the cat was seeing.
This could eventually lead to a person being able to record exactly what he sees and play it back at a later date. This would open the door to a whole new way of on the field reporting, sports coverage, personal memoires and, of course, video podcasting.
Can't wait until the Python bindings are available for this.
