Feed Description: Tech notes and web hackery from the guy that brought you bzero, Python Community Server, the Blogging Ecosystem and the Internet Topic Exchange
Yesterday I finished moving my stuff out of the office I've been occupying for the last two years, and today I handed back the keys. From now on I'll be working from home, or co-working chez onlinegroups.net. (Thanks, Dan!)
There's been a surprising amount of work involved to reduce my dependence on the server that's been running in there 24/7 since 2005. Still not quite sure what to do with my mail; having a system running all day just to download mail and serve it over IMAP to a single laptop seems a bit wasteful, but this laptop doesn't always wake up properly after hibernating, so I'm not quite confident enough to store the master copy of everything there just yet.
Until 2005 I edited and built this blog on my home server (now off most of the time, as we use a Linksys NSLU-2 for file storage and background Linux stuff nowadays), then it moved to the office server, and now it's over to my laptop.
