Indeed so, at least according to Software Development Online's Salary Survey 2003 (requires registration):

Paradoxically, open-source or free-software projects are associated with high salaries for both staff and management. And, as it did last year, the object-oriented scripting language Python shows an inexplicable link to a high salary, as well. A theory that Python users might also be polyglots didn't pan out: Those who mentioned the language do have an array to choose from, but aren't the most multilingual of the bunch.

But of course, one can only guess what's the cause here.
