Here is some more information on L. Peter Deutsch's project to run Python on top of the Smalltalk VM. Allan Schiffman, the informant, is no slouch himself. These gentlemen have been doing VMs for a long time, and they certainly know their business. And for all those people who are about to jump up and say "Hotspot", please remember that some of the key ideas in Hotspot originated in Self (at Stanford, not at Sun), which is an intellectual ancestor of Smalltalk.
