I'm headed to Amsterdam this Wednesday (arriving Thursday) for my sister's (2nd) wedding. Should be fun.

The hotel situation is strange in the Netherlands. Apparently, the price you're charged for a nightly rate is negotiable, and often at the whim of whomever happens to be at the front desk at the time, or so I'm told. Or, they might tell you its full even if it's not, if they don't like you.

For example, the Piet Hein told me last night that there were two single rooms available, but that I'd have to send them an email to get a room (?). So, I sent the email. They told me it was full (??). Tonight, my sister called them. She got a room for me (???). But not at the rate she got last time (????).

Whatever. :)
