JE interoperability with JRuby is important because it means that Ruby programmers now have a simple, embeddable, ACID storage engine (JE) available to them. Hats off to the JRuby developers: all of this code "just worked", out of the box, and most of my two hour investment was spent learning enough basic Ruby to make it all work. If you already know Ruby and JE, then demonstrating this interoperability would take you all of about 10 minutes.
