While ripping my CD collection via iTunes in the background, the system suddenly went berserk. The little spinning multi-colored icon was in full, uh, spin, and I could not get back control of the system. After trying several things, I ultimately had to use the power button to do a forced shutdown. Ugly.

The culprit? It turned out to be a Nine Inch Nails CD. There's something goofy about that CD. When I restarted the system, the iTunes app came up right away and I could see (before it started ripping again) what I suspect was the issue. After the main tracks are listed there were what appeared to be an infinitely long series of 1-second long "unknown" tracks. When it hit those, iTunes basically freaked out.

Coincidentally, the name of the NiN CD is "Broken".
