Feed Title: Subverting the Paradigm
Feed URL: http://subvertingtheparadigm.ottercat.net/feed/rss.xml
Feed Description: Which Paradigm? Pretty much all of them. It's about programming, exploring, management theory, development, and other radical notions. One day I'll talk about Ruby. The next day Rails. Javascript will be thrown in for good measure. Maybe even (gasp!) some Java. Thoughts about management style, too. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, all thrown together in a subversive attempt to change the world, but in a good way.

So here's the plan..... take ~25K records of substances from PubChem (an online database) and use JAXB to create java bindings for them. Then create models and migrations and a mapping to put it in a database, then use ActiveScaffold to provide the CRUD....in (J)Ruby. I should be able to demo this in 1/2 hour or so... after I've written a few pieces of code -- like to create my models and/or migrations for me.

At this point, reality has stepped in...... The milano JAXB explorer/code generator is choking on the pubchem.xsd -- it's complaining that property names are being used more than once. So tomorrow I guess I will try another route. I'll try running the compiler outside of milano first, then if that fails, I'll try another route; I'll look at using rexml to parse it.

I'm thinking that this may end up turning into a new plugin -- ruxbin I think I'll call it. And maybe have a stuffed bear for its mascot.
