It has been some time since I wrote here. Here are some of the latest significant things that recently happened in my planet.
Our California relocation is progressing. We requested and prepared all the papers for the very-soon wedding, and started the process to open a bank account there. Hopefully, our bank in France, HSBC, is already present oversea and provides many convenience facilities for people who relocate. We should theoretically move at the end of December.
I attended the Fetes de Wallonie a few weeks ago. Groovy concerts, especially the Gauff, a local band from Liege, my hometown.
Speaking of Belgium, it is now 108 days since our politicians are still discussing the new government formation. Discussing might be a too gentle word though. There are extremist assholes in both sides, I guess this situation will continue unless we can get rid of them. At least, Flanders doesn't seem to want independence yet, and the Walloon socialist party should be in the opposition. So this doesn't sound that bad. I would be happy to see a bigger Brussels region though, but I doubt the Flemish politicians will accept to give away some of their holy land. Otherwise, having the ability to vote for any party in federal elections, regardless of your region, would be a great asset to fight against extremist politicians, but it seems that some of the French-speaking politicians are against that idea, they are probably afraid to lose some ballots. It's really a shame that the current negotiators immediately focus on their small region before considering the big picture. I will miss Verhofstadt :-/
Very nice diner with the Joyent guys last week, who were in Paris.
I will be in bay area in mid-October, from 11th to 18th. The principal reason of this short trip, besides work, is to visit a bit the places around with my girlfriend, and pick something as a temporary rent. We will do a very-short trip to Belgium before.
I will attend the upcoming RubyConf, 2nd to 4th November, in Charlotte. I have a talk scheduled on Saturday, called Mac OS X Loves Ruby. Stay tuned :)
