I applied for a job within the company as a system administrator. I decided I needed a change of pace, and figured I could put my programming skills to good use. Maybe even help the other admins with their programming skills.
Alas, it was not to be. Not only did I not get the job, but the req was cancelled for budgetary reasons. It's a shame, too, because I think I would have gotten it.
The req may open up again at some point, so now I'm thinking of getting Solaris or RHEL certification to bolster my chances for my next interview (wherever that may happen to be).
