Today,
Josh Susser tweeted about his new french press and the quality of the coffee it produced, along with a [
photo of his favorite mug, which happens to sport a nice Xerox Smalltalk design.
So I decided to share some of my favorite mugs.
My everyday mug
This mug goes into the dishwasher every night, and comes out every morning, it commemorates the J9 Java virtual machine from OTI. The logo is derived from the VisualAge logo.
VisualAge
And here's the VisualAge mug, rather faded I must admit.
Another OTI Mug
Here's another OTI mug, more generic.
Knowledge Systems
Knowledge Systems Corporation was founded by Reed Phillips and Sam Adams, who both worked for Tektronix selling and supporting Tek's Smalltalk workstation. KSC was in Cary, NC when IBMs Smalltalk efforts were centered there and later in RTP. Other KSC alumni include Steve Burbeck, and Ken Auer.
More Smalltalk Mugs
This one dates from the days when there were several Smalltalk conferences each year. I don't recall the dates for DevTalk though.
I love transparent mugs, this one is from ParcPlace.
Pink
Finally, this one from Apple's Pink project. Pink was going to be the next Macintosh operating system, back in the days when some folks thought that turning an application framework written in a statically typed object-oriented language was a good idea. They were wrong!
