One of the talks at MWRC this year was about MongoDB. Coincidentally, the folks at BGG tried to switch to MongoDB from MySQL. It was a total failure. Here's the comment from Aldie:


If you saw the notice today - you'll see that we switched over the
recently viewed database to use MongoDB (a NOSQL document store
database). This worked fine when we tested it, but it suffers several
crashes under load. It crashed about 15 times today.


Ouch.
