Yesterday we had posted about iPhone dev team updated blog post where they have mentioned that they will be showing a quick demo on first iPod Touch 2G jailbreak using Redsn0w. Today MuscleNerd launched a live video on Qik demonstrating the jailbreak process and the problem that they are still faced with.

Basically this demo showed that iPod touch which was planted with all jailbreak data will only boot once the Apple iPod kernel signature check is removed. Now by using redsn0w patch this signature check was bypassed and iPod Touch was booted successfully.

This process of iPod touch 2G jailbreak requires you to patch (redsn0w) iPod every time you reboot But once successfully jailbreaking iPod Touch 2G you can have Cydia and Installer on your iPod touch.

Redsn0w still needs lot of work and its not final finished product which iPhone dev team planning to release

So the mystery of Redsn0w is clear now, Redsn0w is actually a patch to remove kernel Signature check. We will be having jailbroken iPod touch kernel along with redsn0w patch to complete iPod touch 2G jailbreak.
