Here are step by step of how you could perform a hard reset motorola Xoom.

When your device is not working correctly and you believe it is malfunction, then the first thing you could try to do is to perform a soft reset, if that doesn't work then you could try to perform a hard reset. Whenever you got a problem the first thing you should try is  a soft reset because this way you won't loose your data.

Note: by performing a hard reset all you data on the device will be lost. If you want to keep any of the data on the device make sure you have back them up first.


Soft Reset

 

1. Press the Up Volume key + Power on for 3 seconds.

Your device should start to reboot.

 

Hard Reset - You will lose all your data

If you device is frozen then you can try the following:

1. Turn off your device by pulling out the battery and placing it back in.

2. Press the Power button to turn on your device again.

3. When you see the Motorola logo, immediately press and hold the Down Volume key.

4. Then you should see Android recover text, press the Up Volume key to get into recovery mode.

5. While in recovery mode, press and hold the Power button, then press and release the Up Volume key.

6. Navigate down to the Wipe data / Factory reset option b pressing the Down Volume key. Then press on the Power button to select it.

7. Next press on the Power button to select Yes, delete all user data.

Another way to hard reset the device is to do it through the software menu. You can only use this method if your device is not frozen. Here's how:

1. Go back to the Home screen.

2. Then tap on the application list.

3. Then tap on Settings.

4. Next select Privacy.

5. Next tap on Factory data reset.

6. Then select Reset tablet. If you want to wipe out all data on the SD card then make sure the checkbox Erase USB storage is ticked.

7. Next follow the onscreen instruction to finish off the process.

Your device should then start to restore itself and all setting should go back to the default factory setting.
