Learn how you could perform a hard reset on the myTouch 4G.
Just like any other device the myTouch 4G will occasionally run into issue that forces you to reset it back to the factory setting so you get it going again. Reseting can be done via the setting menu or via the hardware key.
Note: before you carry out the below steps, if there are any data on the device that you want to keep then make sure you have back them up first. Once the device is reset, all the data on it will be erased. All data on the SD card should be preserved.
Using the Software Menu
1. Go back to the Home screen.
2. Now choose Settings.
3. Then tap on SD & Phone Storage.
4. Then select Factory data reset.
5. Then tap on Reset phone.
6. Put in the password when prompt.
7. Now tap on Erase everything.
If the above does not work for you, then you could try the following:
Via Hardware Key
1. Turn off the phone by pulling out the battery and put it back in.
2. Press and hold the Volume down button, then press the Power button for a brief period.
3. When you see the Android picture shows up on the screen let go of the Volume Down button.
5. Next use the Volume down key and select Factory Reset.
6. Finally press the Power button.
Your HTC myTouch 4G should begin to reset the device and bring it back to the factory setting.
