Jim Kyle is a man I have known by reputation for many years, and later from personal contacts (sporadic since I moved away for developing Btrieve/Pervasive SQL applications). Jim has written a large number of books, and in addition to computers, has written in magazines such as Mechanix Illustrated, Popular Electronics and 73 Magazine.
My chance to meet and work with Jim came as we were both involved as columnists for Btrieve Developers Journal (which became Pervasive Developers Journal, which became extinct). I was as impressed with Jim in person as I had been with his writing, which included work on books like Undocumented DOS and PC Interrupts.
Jim is still a working developer, and he is currently working doing database repairs for any number of users of Btrieve databases, as well as working to do the same sort of low level repairs on the newer Pervasive database. Jim is the Database Geek of the Week this week over at Simple-Talk.com.
