IEEE Spectrum has an interesting article on what really happened during the Apollo 13 mission as part of coverage of the 35-year anniversary of the Apollo 13 mission.

It appears that the Ron Howard film took some liberties with the events. One I found most interesting was that the oxygen tank explosion caused a large bang, violent spacecraft movement and immediate reaction in the movie. But, according to this article, the actual explosion caused just a "dull but definite bang". Here's a page that talks about what some of the real-life players had to say about how the movie was portrayed.
