I really like Major Nelson's Xbox blog and the new capability implemented to get rid of comment spam. Now, when entering a comment, you're asked to enter a security code based on a random image of a text string (a process known as Captcha, or "completely automated public Turing test to tell computers and humans apart").
A lot of 3rd parties are writing Captcha plug-ins for blogging software. For MovableType users I saw this interesting plug-in for blog comments from James Seng. He even wrote an MT plug-in that checks host URLs to try and capture trackback ping spam.
