I believe Google idea is to make Google as your default browser page. I like the idea to have my gmail account and the BBC news on one page.
For the weather, well I am not really to see if it's raining in LA but more about sunset on Dublin (I know sounds weird but happens twice a year between two showers).

Anyway a nother good service from Google, fast and easy to setup. I believe you will be able to add your own feeds in the future.

UPDATE: something cool I jsut dicovered is that you can move the box around, drag and drop style, web parts if you prefer. And it seems that if you receive an email, the GMail page opens automatically.Cool stuff
