Something about the Yoda lightsaber battle in the 2nd movie bothered me, and I realized what it was when watching his lightsaber battles in the new movie. I think in the first movies Yoda was such a great character because he was small, diminutive, eccentric, but to me he represented the fact that knowledge is the ultimate power. Luke expected to find a great Jedi warrior when he went to Degobah, but instead he found a tiny green muppet. This showed that the true power of the force was not fighting with lightsabers and crushing your enemies; it was knowledge and understanding. I think that is just as true in real life, knowledge and understanding are more important than strength and power. (unless you are the current administration) Yoda showed that the light side held these values above all else.

The second and third movies messed this all up to show Yoda jumping around with a light saber, just because you can do something with CGI doesn’t mean you should.
