Been awhile since I have done one of these, here are some of the books I have enjoyed recently.

Fiction

I was recently inspired by my little brother (who is reading through some of my favorite classics) to pick up some old classics I never got around to reading.

Lord of the Flies – Great book, really makes you think about the nature of man. I am not sure I agree with the message of the book, but I think it makes a compelling point and is great discussion material.

Catcher in the Rye – This is what I am reading now, so far it is excellent. I have always enjoyed a good first person tale.

Non-Fiction

Founding Brothers – Excellent book, I love the format of picking a handful of stories to represent the entire era.

John Adams – I started this as an Audible download but haven’t been driving as much lately, luckily I have the book as well… just have to find my place.

Programming

Patterns of Enterprise Application Architecture – Great book. Not exactly a page turner, but tons of great information.

Code Complete 2nd Edition – Reading through his now, good stuff.

Coder to Developer – Great stuff from Mike, this is the one book I would recommend to every developer starting with .NET. I think it does a great job of getting a developer up to speed with all the tools he might not otherwise be aware of.

Next on my list – Haunted, Geek Love, No God but God, Refactoring

So what have you been reading?

-James
