I don’t talk much about extreme programming here on my blog.  Darrell Norton covers that very well, and there isn’t much I could say that he doesn’t/hasn’t already.

I am a big advocate of extreme programming.  I have worked on several high profile, high energy projects in the last 10 years.  If there is one thing that has set in my mind more than anything, it is that change sucks.  Ok, it doesn’t suck, but it sure can be expensive for the customer, and painful for the developer.  Agile methodologies, specifically XP, I started getting into back in 2000 or 2001, I can’t remember exactly.  About the same time I started getting into .Net programming.

Extreme programming has really opened my eyes to the fact that change doesn’t have to hurt.  Change can be simple and easy.  XP doesn’t really introduce anything new to the programming world, it just couples them all together to help acheive maximun communication, simplicity, efficiency, feedback, productivity and a slew of other good things that make team development a joy.

That being said, I will be presenting a full day workshop/seminar (more of a seminar than a workshop) on Extreme Programming in Oklahoma City in mid-July.  The exact day has not been set yet.  If anybody will be/can be in the area, drop me a line via my contact page and we’ll talk.  When the exact date has been set, I’ll let you know, along with a syllabus.

Update: I have received quite a few emails regarding interest in the seminar.  To answer some questions: The cost is free.  The location is tenatively set for downtown Oklahoma City (Bricktown) and the audience level is 100.
