Feed Description: .NET and everything nice
I have added a new category (MicroISV) to my blog as I really want to start working on and talking about creating a software product. I am just about finished with all my pending articles and other projects, so I will soon have some time to dedicate to working on a product.
So now the hard part is deciding what product to create. Don’t get me wrong, I have tons of ideas, but I need to find something that I can do in a reasonable amount of time and that will be profitable.
For the last couple weeks I have been thinking about writing an online aggregator using AJAX and tagging capabilities, as well as some other cool features. I saw a new FeedLounge aggregator popped up which includes AJAX and tagging, but that is not surprising since using these in an aggregator is a pretty logical step. Something like this usually discourages me from acting on an idea, but lately I have been trying to get past that. I think I could still be successful with an online aggregator (since my criteria for success is much lower than the companies out there now) but I am not sure if that is the best way to go.
Over the next week or so I am going to get all of my different ideas down on paper and try to hammer out what the feature set would look like, estimated time to build (then double it), possibly business models, and current and future competitors. (For instance we know Google/MSN/Yahoo will probably get more heavily into the aggregator space in the future)
I plan on blogging about the process as much as possible.
