CLR Inside Out: Garbage Collection and Resource Management
Take an inside look at the algorithms the CLR's Garbage Collector uses for collection, compaction, and how it deals with fragmentation. This session discusses in precise detail topics such as generations, pinning, out of memory conditions, the stack and heap allocation process, and interaction with Windows memory management. We also show off some of the cool new APIs available in Visual Studio 2005 to help with unmanaged memory management. Lastly we take a look into the future and provide some insight into how we intend to make the CLR even better for applications with a wide range of memory management requirements.
