Today was a great day. My presentation on CAB went very well. The attendees seemed to really appreicate the things we're trying to do with it, and asked positively excellent questions.
I'm obsessive about my decks. I got a "starting point" deck on CAB Tuesday, wrote my first draft on Wednesday, re-wrote it on Thursday night (up until 1am), and re-wrote it again on Friday night (up until 1am again). One of Scott's great tips Friday night was: give the presentation (at the very minimum) once, even if you're giving it just to yourself. Every time I did that, I ended up re-writing significant portions of the deck, for the better. Here I am again, up until midnight, to make sure I have enough demo material in my pocket for the Ruby talk (more about that tomorrow).
I've meet lots of people "in the flesh" for the first time, including Scott, Chris (who needs his own blog), and Ted. Most, though, I've been anxious to meet the mind behind the twisted comics; it was a little surreal when I was sitting in the presenter's lounge slaving over my Ruby demos, only to hear Rory say "Hey, it's Brad Wilson!" Thanks, man. :)
My biggest regret is that I've been so spazzed about making sure my talks go well, that I only managed to attend two talks on Day 1. My Ruby talk is up in the first time slot tomorrow; once 10:15 A.M. rolls around, the burden will be lifted and I'll be able to enjoy the rest of Day 2. :)
