One of the reasons I did not blog about the summit until now is that a lot happened underneath the scenes for me this year. Since Harry “leaked it” already and my new MVP Lead just gave me the go-ahead, I accepted an invitation from Harry Pierson to transition from a C# MVP to a Solutions Architect MVP a few weeks ago! This is a more natural fit for me at this time as this is what I do for a job in the outside world. It's now official on the site. Before I talk about that, I want to say something about Rafael Munoz, the best MVP Lead a person could have in the whole world! Rafael is an easy man to like as he is so personable and fun but he also treats each and every one of his C#, VB, and Security MVPs as personal family members. I felt that I had a family member in Microsoft looking out for my interests. And boy did he ever. He kept me super informed; he set me up with various design teams particularly the CLR Team and just overall did Microsoft very proud. It is with great regret that I leave him although, my new lead, Kim Ramuda, has been super in the transition as I spent the MVP Summit week going to the Architect events (She has big shows to fill!!). It was with great honor, that I sat in a room with the likes of Tim Ewald, Gregor Hohpe, Barry Gervin, Scott Hanselman, Mario Cardinal, and Beth Massi, and we got to dive into deep architectural issues with Software Factories and the new round of modeling tools, CAB and Smart Client Architecture, Connected Systems and Workflow, etc. The discussions were intense and were such a fit for where I see myself in my work and in the community. These people are all super smart and I hope to learn a lot as I contribute as well. I want to thank everyone involved for this honor.
