Just a quick thought: After some pondering, I have come to realize that my distaste for code-generation based solutions comes from my preference to solve the underlying design problem. Those who are quick to pull the code-generation howitzer out are often less familiar, or comfortable with more advanced design techniques. Don't get me wrong - sometimes you HAVE to generate.
