The patterns & practices Summit will be in Redmond in a few weeks. Peter Provost and I will be presenting on a topic near and dear to us: Agile Development in the War Room.
Until coming to Microsoft, I had not been succesful in getting teams to be fully agile. I've been a strong advocate for a few years, but there always seemed to be some impediments to putting an agile process in place. At one place, I did some TDD; at another, we used agile planning.
On the patterns & practices teams, with developer-focused projects, the development leads (including Peter and myself) have a lot of freedom to choose how the development process will go. We tend towards fully agile teams, with pair programming, TDD, planning game, etc. It's been a real joy to be able to do this, and many people are surprised that we're doing it within Microsoft. Peter and I will get to share some of the fantastic experiences we've had working on Enterprise Library and CAB.
