As far as I am concerned, the best person for tips, advice on what tools and utilities to install on a machine is Scott Hanselman. His masterpiece, Ultimate Developer and Power User Tools List, is my standard guide for setting up a development box. Now, Scott has another essential list, for a fresh "new" system before the machine is usable. Must read! You know, I never have the time to waste to listen to podcasts (I think they suck too) but given Scott's expertise in these matters, I may make the time to listen to his new Hanselminutes.
