Thurrott comments on a new lawsuit related to security issues is underway against Microsoft. The funny part of this is that the person initiating the suit says she is "championing the defense of computer users victimized by... insecure software." And how exactly is she doing this? By participating in a class action suit. Having some firsthand experience in dealing with class action lawsuits (more than most technology people anyway), I can tell you one thing. These suits are a boon for trial lawyers, and the consumers usually get little or nothing in the way of compensation. The attorneys' fees are typically 30 to 40% of the total judgement, and the expenses are typically enormous.
