I recently invested in a new Samsung Q1 Ultramobile PC (an Origami device).

I always wanted a full-featured PC that I could carry with me wherever I go. so I usually am very excited about this kind of devices but find them hard to work with afterwards. After one week of "daily use",  here are my impresseions.

  • Great screen, although very weak in dailyght/outdoor use
  • Great touch-screen that works almost as well as a digitizer
  • Good battery life
  • It doesn't run hot when I hold and use it
  • Small enough to carry, large enough to really work with
  • Very good performance - GPU and CPU
  • Good connectivity (WLAN B/G, Bluetooth 2.0)
  • Important ports are present (VGA, 2 * USB 2.0, Ethernet)

I am much more pleased than with the OQO1 - which ran too hot, was too small to really work with, and felt very slow.

Next stop: upgrading to Windows Vista...
