Feed Description: .NET and Software Development from an experienced perspective - .NET/CLR, Rotor, Interop, MC+/C++, COM+, ES, Mac OS X, Extreme Programming and More!
Peter Drayton called me up from Redmond yesterday and said he was stuck at SeaTac and asked me to help run the Rotor BOF. It turns out that the awesome Ted Neward (co-author of THE Rotor book), Brad Abrams, and O'Reilly's John Osbourne were all helping so I was in great company as they know far more than me about Rotor. It was a a great honor. Brad indicated that the CLR group has taken over ownership for Rotor; i.e. the CLR group is the Rotor Group and there will definetly be a Rotor 2.0 coinciding with the Whidbey release (some time after). Ted shed some light into some areas of the PAL and others. I was able to give the “users perspective” pointing out the unique opportunity to view the CLI source code and how that really built my .NET knowledge. I also encouraged people to go the SSCLI Community site and get involved in the community. I encourage you all to do that. One thing I encourage people to do is look at Rotor on FreeBSD 5.1 the latest and help with any porting issues. As Peter told me, this is what the Panther OS X release is based on, so it should go towards having it work there. I will be looking into it. A great session.
Also, as Scott and Sean point out, there are a couple of books for sale here (that should be generally available soon) on Whidbey features that you simply must have:

Alas, I won't be able to be here for my COM Interop BOF tomorrow night but I leave in the very capable hands of Matias and Kate, and hopefully Adam and Sonja will make it by then. I'll be around for most of the day, flying the red eye back tonight (- but hope to get in the keynotes, and today's sessions. I don't have a working Win2K3 wireless card (except the hotel one that works only here in the hotel) so I am not sure I'll get to blog the sessions and then I have the family stuff to deal with when I get home but I will provide analysis at some later date. I'm sure you understand. I want to thank so many of you, too many to name who have come up to me to express symathies, hang out with me, and make this already a memorable experience for me. You all are great people that I am happy to call my friends.
