Ive recently been involved in a pilot of "IPsec tunnelling" functionality that enabled me to seemlessly connect to our enterprise network resources whenever I'm connected to the Internet, and have the same experience as if I was working in the office. Prior to this I always had the hassle of using a VPN and a smartcard to authenticate myself.
This DirectAccess networking will be available in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2
This paper describes the benefits of DirectAccess, how it works, and what you will need to deploy it in your organization.
