Always interesting to hear of some of the great extensions that our partners are making to compliment the Microsoft Internet Business and Portal products. Many partners now have some very comprehensive toolkits enabling them to rapidly develop and deploy customer solutions using CMS/CS/SPS.

As an example, today I learnt about the .NET Metadata Manager for CMS from Diagonal Solutions who have customer requirements to be able to dynamically manage metadata within their content managed site. They needed a tool that would allow the following:

  • To add and delete the metadata fields held at the template level
  • To change the metadata value options which are exposed to the authors
  • To allow non-technical users to manage the metadata
  • To allow global changes to be made to the metadata that will affect all relevant pages
  • To be able to import metadata from existing XML documents

Diagonal have recently aided London Borough of Sutton to successfully implement their content managed intranet site using Microsoft CMS.
