For the 2nd straight year, the Miami Dolphins missed the NFL playoffs (the last time being the 88-89 seasons). This team had arguably the best personnel on paper, but was beaten badly by almost every team with a winning record, and was also humiliated by Houston at home in the season opener.

What's next for the Dolphins? Unless it's a complete house-cleaning, we'll be looking at the same thing next year. My advice is:

#1. Get Ron Wolf in here as soon as the season is over. Give him whatever he wants to take over the GM job and let Rick Spielman go to Detroit.
#2. Bring in Dennis Green to coach this team. Dennis gets along with players and can coach an offense.
#3. Use some of the current defense as trade bait to move up in the draft to get Eli Manning and get back the 2nd rounder we lost to draft a 3rd round reach this year. Madison, Taylor, and Ogunleye are the most coveted which could bring about such prized picks.
#4. Change most of the coaching staff - especially Ketih Armstrong.
#5. Change the defensive scheme. Yes, this defense rates high statistically, but they've got to change the scheme to rely less on Zach Thomas. When he's blocked, the run defense usually stinks. The Jets were the 1st to discover this formula.

Let's hope ownership has the guts to pull this off. And NO, I don't want to see Steve Spurrier here - no matter what Chris Mortenson says!
