I guess I never noticed this, but I was working on my Mac writing a Q&A article for Visual Studio Magazine and saw my word count down in the bottom status bar of Word (next to pages, Sections, etc). Anyway, I synced my changes back up when I connected to the LAN, and then opened the document on my Windows PC with Word 2003. And? You guessed it ... no word count!
Sure, they've got a toolbar for it (Tools->Word Count) in Word 2003, but why not just add that small piece of info in the status bar. What could it hurt?
