Bei aller Begeisterung mit den (Multi)Touch Software-Frameworks wird oft ausser Sicht gelassen, dass die Hardware eine entscheidende Rolle spielt. Wie schnell und genau die Reaktion erfolgt entscheidet massgeblich darüber wie die vielbeschworene User Experience aussieht.

Eine tolle Übersicht [1] der gängigen Touch-Technologien (resistive, surface capacitive, projected capacitive, infrared, surface acoustic wave usw.) im Vergleich zur eigenen (optical imaging) findet sich beim NextWindow, dem Hersteller der Touch-Displays, die bspw. bei HP TouchSmart zum Einsatz kommen.
