Here's an interesting add-on for Mac OSX. Called DOT-POD, this program allows you to select tracks from your connected iPod and they will automatically be available to anyone who can connect to your Mac via the Internet. You can even specify login credentials for each track published.

Apparently, it doesn't use the OSX web server, but has its own media serving service. The software can also be copied directly to the iPod, so that you can connect the iPod to any other OSX machine and serve from that location. The software is activated to the unique ID on the iPod (probably the serial number).

You can download a demonstration mode version of the product (which is free) that allows you to serve up to 10 tracks from your iPod (but this is limited to 5 minutes of continuous media serving).

Sounds pretty cool.
